ESRD: Spring wildfires possible, but risk low

The risk of a wildfire is low but people are being reminded that they can still happen in spring.

Alberta’s Environment and Sustainable Resource Development says when the snow melts, grasses and twigs are left, which are highly flammable.

It says all fires other than campfires in the Forest Protection Area now need a valid fire permit.

They’re free at ESRD’s local office; for details call (780) 743-7125

You can also follow it on Twitter (@ABGovWildfire), and Facebook (Alberta Wildfire Info) or download it’s cell phone app by CLICKING HERE so you can report a fire, check statuses and bans.

If you spot a wildfire or smoke call 310-FIRE (3473).
