EU anti-oilsands proposal delayed

The European Union’s effort to label oil sands crude as dirtier than conventional oil is being delayed until next year at the earliest.

An EU official has leaked to the media that the European Commission has decided to have a full study on the impact of the proposed fuel quality directive before making a decision.

The EU had originally planned to vote on the proposal in June.

The EU official also says the study is intended to win over undecided member states to make sure the proposal eventually does pass.
