Diversified has made a new offer to the union that represents its drivers.
Sources say the company is now offering a 10 percent raise over three years – 4% in the first year, then 3% in the next two.
That’s much higher than the six and half percent it first offered – that offer had raises of 2.5% in the first year then 2% in the following two.
That first offer was rejected by 98% of the drivers.
But the new offer isn’t certain to be accepted – 2 of the 7 members of the union’s negotiating committee refused to recommend the deal.
Drivers will vote later this month; they already passed a strike vote last month.
That allows them to walk off the job on 72 hours notice.
