Fall Trade Show a success

It was a busy weekend at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park with record crowds flocking to the annual Fort McMurray Tourism Fall Trade Show.

More than 25,000 visitors came through the doors for the Trade Show at MacDonald Island Park from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, surpassing the previous record attendance set at the annual Fort McMurray Tourism Spring Trade Show held in May. The Trade Show was headlined by more than 400 exhibitors, up from 350 booths at the Spring Trade Show and the more than 200 booths at last fall’s Trade Show.

The event continues to grow exponentially and has become one of the pre-eminent events on the fall calendar in the Wood Buffalo region. The approximately 25,000 visitors represented an increase of 6,000 visitors compared to last fall’s Trade Show. In 2009, an estimated 15,000 visitors came to MacDonald Island Park for the event.

“What an exciting weekend here at MacDonald Island,” said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer at MacDonald Island Park. “The Island was the heartbeat of the community this weekend, and it was great to see such a diversity of exhibitors and attendees over the three days. Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo region have a lot to offer on a number of levels, and that broad-ranging appeal was clearly on display this weekend.”
