Fashion designer L'Wren Scott found dead

Until her untimely death Monday, L’Wren Scott had only been designing her eponymous clothing line for eight years — but her impact on the world of celebrity fashion rivaled that of designers who had been on the scene for decades. Since launching her “Little Black Dress” collection in 2006, the designer, 49, had seen her dresses worn to the Oscars, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, major premieres and state dinners by women as varied as Michelle ObamaKim Kardashian and Olivia Wilde. Scott was found dead in her apartment March 17 of an apparent suicide, but left behind a legacy that includes her dresses, shoes and handbags; lines forBanana RepublicLancômeBobbi Brown and Caudalie; and of course, some truly beautiful red carpet moments. Below, we look at just a few of our favorites.

The BBC  reports that according to its last U.K. filing, Scott’s firm, LS Fashion Limited, owed creditors about $7.6 million as of the end of last year, on assets of $1.7 million.
Raised in Utah as Luann Bambrough, Scott reinvented herself as a model in Paris and later became a stylist to the stars in the ’90s, according to a 2009 Daily Beast interview.
