As of 10 a.m. crews are doing an aerial assessment of the damage done to the Fort McMurray area as the wildfire continued to rage Thursday night.

According to Wildfire Information Officer Lynn Daina the blaze grew to 101,000 hectares overnight, it was 85,000 hectares Thursday morning.

Daina says the latest update she had received noted that Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates and Gregoire were all untouched.

Today’s weather forecast isn’t very encouraging as high winds are expected to push the fire east gusting as high as 35 kilometres per hour.

Humidity for Friday is forecasted to sit below the 19 degree high which according to Daina will create prime burning conditions.

She noted that the head of the fire is heading South East.
