After some much needed rain, the province lifted the fire weather advisory. That means the Fort McMurray Management Area is no longer at risk for severe wildfires.

The hazard level is still Extreme as 18 wildfires burn throughout the region.

A wildfire that was burning out of control this weekend, is now being held 40 kilometres west of Fort McMurray. It’s about 4,300 hectares in size.

Forecasting tools say smoke is expected to travel through Wood Buffalo today. Officials are reminding the public to check the Air Quality Health Index before spending a day outdoors.
