First Nations outraged at Northern Gateway safety approval

Transport Canada has told the panel reviewing the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline that it has no regulatory concerns.

It says that residual risks are present in any project.

Coastal First Nations say they’re shocked, and claim that approving supertankers in B.C.’s inlets ignores safety issues.

They say their own study showed a tanker spill could cause 23-billion dollars of damage.
