FMRL: Northern Insight's third speaker is Arlene Dickinson

She’s the co-host of ‘Dragon’s Den’, the star of CBC’s ‘The Big Decision’, and a national best selling author with her book ‘Persuasion’ – Arlene Dickinson is coming to Fort McMurray.

The Fort McMurray Public Library made the announcement this morning, that she will be the third speaker in it’s Northern Insight’s speaker series.

Library Director Carolyn Goolsby says the library is very excited to have her.

“She’s awesome on many different levels, here to speak about work-life balance, entrepreneurship and marketing.”

She says that she talks a lot about work-life balance.

“It’s hard to have a good work-life balance when your 4 on 4 off, 9 on 9 off, 12 hour days. She’s also really great to speak to issues of marketing yourself, marketing your brand and having the life you want.”

Goolsby says she’ll help you to understand your own thoughts about things.

“She will help people to start thinking about their lives in different ways, so that the balance comes into play and making their lives what they want it to be, and of course the community as a whole, about how to market ourselves.  Sometimes, Fort McMurray I think, has a very undeserved reputation, we need to turn that around,  we can do that, I think she can help us do that.”

The three-year-long speaker series was announced back in November.

It’s first speaker was Malcolm Gladwell, and up next is Bill Cosby.

Goolsby says the speaker’s are picked to help enrich our community.

“To share their insights on life, on business, on community, on family and make people think and give people new ideas, of how we make Fort McMurray and ourselves what we want to be.”
