Funding for oil sands monitoring still under discussion a year later

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers says its members still haven’t decided how they’re going to pay their share of the new oil sands monitoring program.

The joint federal-provincial program was announced last July, but industry is supposed to contribute 50 million dollars a year of the cost.

CAPP says it hopes to have a plan finalized by the end of this month.

Industry already spends 15 million dollars a year on environmental monitoring.
