Grand Slam coming back to Fort McMurray

The Grand Slam of Curling is coming back to Fort McMurray next March.

Sportsnet says MacDonald Island will host the newest event dubbed ‘Elite 10’, which joins the Masters, National, Canadian Open and Players’ Championships.

Canadian curling icon Kevin Martin retired this year, and he’ll join Sportsnet as a broadcast analyst and official spokesperson for the series.

It will also up the total prize money to a total minimum of $700,000 with the $1-million bonus still available for men’s teams who can win the season’s five Slams.

Masters – Selkirk, MB (October 28-November 2 at Selkirk Arena)
National – Sault Ste. Marie, ON (November 19-23 at Essar Centre)
Canadian Open – Yorkton, SK (December 10-14 at Gallagher Arena)
Elite 10 – Fort McMurrary, AB (March 18-22, 2015 at MacDonald Island Park)
Players’ Championship – Toronto (April 7-15, 2015 at Mattamy Athletic Centre)
