hey everyone heads up on the trails.
Have been seeing lots of bear signs but didn’t see the bears until yesterday. Spotted 2 within about 15 minutes. On Moose and the Arctic Winter Games Trail (near the top of Fuzzy hill).
Both looked very healthy and not interested in moving very far away from their berry patches!

This is the time of year coming on now where bears start to glut themselves to put on the fat for hibernation coming up in a few months! Keep your distance and don’t do anything stupid on the trails and you will be ok!

Just saw the Wildlife officer and his truck at the start of a trail on Trillium Road. My first thought is keeping my doggys safe!

Did it smell like pepper and have little bells in it?

There was a big black bear in the green belt here in Gregoire Crescent, I reported it. He was walking around on the trail.

I don’t get it? Are you saying people who live in the bush shouldn’t talk to each other about their bush-living experiences? Are you expressing general disdain about people who worry about bears? Help me make sense of it Vark

August 8, 2011 : Yesterday a mother black bear of three cubs was shot dead in Anmore BC. because she attacked a human. The cubs were shot with a tranquilizer gun.
The mother was only protecting her babies and she dies for it.
Why could they not shoot the mother with tranquilizers also and moved to another area, instead of killing her?

August 7, 2011 : Lynn Valley BC juvenile male bear shot dead.

July 6, 2011 : Seymour Mountain. Conservation officers located the bear and killed it, saying it was too aggressive.

There’s enough bears roaming around, probably too many. I suggest an open season on black bears. Give me 5 good reasons why they shouldn’t be smote when they become a nuisance in a comminuty.
