Hangingstone expansion starts with environmental impact study

Plans to start an environmental impact study will put Athabasca Oil on track to expand its Hangingstone facility.

It’s preparing it’s submission to two provincial regulators, and with approval would then be able to start Phase 2 and 3.

It would increase production by 35-thousand b-p-d each with a timeline for development in 2017 and 2018.

The site is 20 kilometers southwest of the city, and already has Phase 1 approval for 12-thousand b-p-d.

It’s will start drilling for its SAG-D well pairs mid-way through the year with its first bitumen production aimed for early 2015.
