Federal regulatory hearings start this week in Kitimat, BC for the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline.
The $5.5-billion project would ship crude to the BC coast, and from there it would be transported to growing Asian markets.
More than 4300 people are scheduled to speak at the hearings.
Canadian and international groups oppose the pipeline, because of potential environmental consequences.
