Highway 63 crash rescuer receives medal from Carnegie Hero Fund

The man who rescued two children from a head-on crash on Highway 63 two years ago is getting an international heroism award.

Dion Lefebvre has been named a recipient of the Carnegie Medal, from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission.

The crash happened in April 2012 when two trucks collided, and one caught on fire.

Lefebvre saved one of the crash’s only two survivors – a three year old boy, and an eleven-year old girl who later died in hospital.

The Carnegie Fund has been awarding the medals since 1904.
