Homegrown talent to perform in Western Canada Summer Games Opening Ceremony

Over 350 locals will be performing during the opening ceremonies of the Western Canada Summer Games on Friday, Aug. 7., at Shell Place.

“The event is being brought to you by hundreds of local performers, amazing corporate partners and it truly will be an amazing welcome to the athletes competing throughout the Games,” said Kim Rizzi, General Manager, 2015 Wood Buffalo. “This is our backyard, and we do things big and bold and this event will be no different. This is a historic night for our region and one you’ll definitely not want to miss.”

Ticketholders can use public transportation for free to get to the event. Parking will be open at MacDonald Island Park but it will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets are still available and can be bought online, in person at the Shell Place Box Office or by phone at 1-888-281-6477.

Gates will open at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8:15 p.m.
