UPDATE: Province closes part of NB lane on Highway 63

Update: 2:00 pm

Alberta Transportation says it’s closed part of the right-hand northbound lane on Highway 63, just under the Hospital Street overpass.

An inspection is still underway to determine the structural damage.

Update: 12:00 pm

According to Alberta Transportation, Hospital Street’s eastbound lane heading away from Abasand will be closed.

That’s because just before 9 this morning a high-load hit the overpass, but it wasn’t a hit-and-run.

The province says it’s arranging an inspection right away to check for structural damage, but all lanes on 63 are open.

RCMP say the bridge was partly clipped, but there’s no injuries, and it spoke with the driver.

The bridge was last hit on New Year’s Eve in 2012, but RCMP never found the driver.

That damage was fixed last August.
