Hospital Street overpass repairs coming in August; Thickwood interchange still on schedule

Alberta Transportation says all the recent rain has pushed back progress on the Thickwood interchange, but not enough to change the schedule.

It says despite the delays, the contractor still thinks the full project will be done by the end of the year, with two lane onramps onto 63, 6 lanes on the highway, and it’ll split northbound 63 into express and collector lanes.

The Hospital Street overpass will also finally be getting fixed – though it’s going to take at least another month before that work starts.

The province says it’s going to tender that project in August, as long as the weather cooperates.

The overpass has been down to one lane going towards Abasand ever since an oversized load hit it on New Year’s Eve.
