Husky Energy says the first phase of its Sunrise oil sands project is halfway finished.
The project is 60 kilometres northeast of Fort McMurray.
It’s a 2.5 billion dollar joint venture with BP, which is scheduled to start up in 2014.
It’ll produce 60 thousand barrels per day, and the whole project is designed to eventually produce 200-thousand.
Husky also reported net earnings of 526 million dollars in the third quarter, a small jump from last year.
