Janvier stabbing sends one to hospital Tuesday

A stabbing on the Chipeywan Prairie Dene First Nation in Janvier sent one man to hospital and another man to jail on Tuesday just before 7 p.m.

RCMP say the 26-year-old victim suffered a stab wound to his face and was treated at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile the 29-year-old accused, Tyrone Tyson Cardinal, is facing charges of aggravated assault, breaching probation, and breaking and entering.

Cardinal will remain in police custody until he appears in court to face those charges on Tuesday, October 13.
