Junior Oil Barons undefeated to start season

The Fort McMurray Junior Oil Barons Midget AA team had an undefeated start to the season this past weekend on the road.

Last Friday, they came back from a 2-0 deficit against Strathcona for a 3-3 tie.

Josh White had two goals and Kalen Evans scored his first.

Saturday was another 3-3 tie against the SISEC Selects, in a game where rookie goalie Ryan McWilliams made 51 saves.

Fort McMurray’s goals came from Neil Vermillion, Keillyn Schneider, and Daniel Petten.

Then on Sunday, it was a 45-shot shutout for goalie Robert Gillard as the team got its first win of the year, 1-0 over SISEC.

Schneider’s second goal of the year was the only one of the game.

They’re back on the road this weekend, facing the Northeast Panthers on Saturday and Wainwright on Sunday.
