Little People vs. The Jungle

In an attempt to breathe new life into their troubled relationship, Matt and Amy Roloff embark on a family trip to Costa Rica—but their plan backfires horribly.

OKMagazine.com has an exclusive sneak peek of TLC‘s upcoming special Little People, Big World: Welcome to the Jungle which documents the couple’s struggles in heartbreaking detail.

During the trip, the family heads off to the jungle for what should have been a fun hike, but the mood soon turns dark and before you know it sparks are flying and tensions are running high.

After hours of struggling through the jungle on his crutches, Matt—who was born with diastrophic dysplasia, a degenerative dwarfism that has caused him to have to undergo numerous painful operations throughout his 51-years—is brought literally to tears, and his distressed and angry state causes him to lash out and to question his future with Amy.

“Sometimes I don’t want to be a little person,” Matt tells Amy as he collapses onto the floor, visibly in pain from the hiking exertion. “I want to walk with the whole family but I can’t.

“This is not my thing—this highlights the differences between us—right here, OK—this is not the kind of stuff I do, I mean, I love it but I’m not able to physically go up there.”

TLC Then the anger starts in earnest.“I wish I could keep up with activities like this, but I can’t!” Mat screams at Amy. “I can’t keep up! This is just as far as I can go—I’m done. I mean, it’s the end of the road, I don’t know where we are at right now, we just have differences.”
