The local homeless shelter is starting its 3rd annual Street Outreach Program next week.

The Centre of Hope’s fund coordinator Vanja Taha says it’s to help its patrons in their environment.

“we’ll be taking you know the socks and toilettires and anything we have at the shelter to give out.”

She says its also a time to build trust.

“There’s still a number of homeless individuals that do not come and access the centre,” she continues,”the nicer months of summer and fall give us the chance to go out there and see them.”

There are 2 main goals.

“Number 1 is to be able to assist them with any items that we have but number 2 is also to develop those relationships and build that trust where they feel comfortable to come in.”

The program starts June 3rd, runs through the summer and fall, and finishes up before winter.

The shelter is always in need of donations that include gently used clothing items, toiletries and laundry detergent.
