Newcap Broadcasting says it’s agreed to sell its only radio station in Fort McMurray, 100.5 K-Rock (CHFT-FM), to Harvard Broadcasting.

The deal will put both K-Rock and Mix 103.7 under the same ownership.

Newcap says the deal will create a “level playing field” for the stations against Country 93.3 (CJOK-FM) and ROCK 97.9 (CKYX-FM).

CHFT launched in 2008 as a classic rock station, one of three stations that joined the market after being approved in 2006.

It was the only locally-headquartered station that did not have a local morning show.
