Local United Way celebrates after 2013 campaign

The Fort McMurray United Way is celebrating an 8th straight year of being the most giving community in Canada.

It’s 2013 Community Campaign goal was $7.8-million, but it raised $7,886,000, which is more than any other community based on population.

It says almost 7-thousand people donated and over half of Suncor employee participated.

The news was presented last night during its Community Building Awards ceremony, see the winners below.

CAT the Rental Store co-chairs Haily Blank and Crystal Hulme received the Pillar Award.

CNRL’s co-chairs Lara Rowlands and Samantha Slater were the recipients of the Cornerstone Award.

The Blueprint award for developing an outstanding strategic plan for workplace involvement went to Chris Stucco and Paul Taylor, campaign chairs for Finning Canada.

The distinction named in honour of the founder of the United Way of Fort McMurray, the Maryann Warren Foundation award, was present to Syncrude, for their consistent support that goes all the way back to the first kick-off breakfast in 1979.

The President’s Award goes to a large-sized corporation that attained the highest employee participation, and Suncor won it with a 54% participation level.
