Mounties chased a suspect through the downtown area today after maintenance crews found a gun inside an apartment building.
Scanner reports say police were called to a Fraser Avenue apartment building around 4 p.m., the maintenance crew noticed a black male with a white shirt and black pants flee the scene.
Wood Buffalo RCMP would arrest the suspect around 4:35 p.m. on Fitzimmons Avenue according to the scanner.
Mounties still don’t know whether the man fled just because, or if he is connected to the gun that the RCMP have secured from inside the apartment building.
Police also can’t say if this is in anyway connected to the two recent murders just a few streets over on Clearwater Crescent, or if it’s related to the shooting at the Morrison Centre earlier this month.
It’s still unclear who the gun belonged to, what kind of gun it is and why it was left in the building.
