Police are now treating Tuesday mornings shooting at a Clearwater Crescent apartment as a homicide.

The 22-year-old man found shot inside the building died after being taken to hospital in Fort McMurray.

Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a call of shots fired at the apartment at 4 a.m.

An autopsy today confirmed that it was indeed a homicide.

Mounties aren’t releasing the name of the victim at this time, they also say it’s too early to say whether or not it’s connected to the murder on the same street over the long weekend.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigation Section, Serious Crimes Unit and RCMP Edmonton Major Crimes Unit are involved in the investigation.

The RCMP don’t believe this to be a random incident.

It’s the third shooting this month and second homicide since May. 16.
