A republican bid to speed up approval of the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline failed late last night.
The Democratic-controlled Senate blocked a Republican bid to speed up approval of the pipeline by stripping the State department of its right to block it.
Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell blasted President Obama after the vote, saying the President’s opposition to the pipeline makes him out of touch with middle-class Americans.
