MEG closer to finalizing Surmont proposal

MEG Energy says it’s getting closer to finalizing plans for a 120 thousand barrel per day project in the Surmont region.

The company says it’s begun consulting with regional stakeholders and hopes to file a regulatory application by the middle of this year.

The project will use SAG-D technology and be similar to MEG’s existing Christina Lake project.

MEG currently produces 30 thousand barrels per day but wants to see that grow to 300 thousand over the next ten years at the two sites.
