MEG Energy is on track to hit a record annual production this year. It also wrapped up some major turnaround work in the second quarter.

The company says it produced more than expected pumping out 71,376 barrels of oil per day which includes the impact of the plant turnaround.

“The major turnaround work for 2015 is now complete, leaving MEG well-positioned for strong operations through the balance of the year,” said Bill McCaffrey, President and CEO. “Equally important, plant testing of oil and water processing facilities carried out during the turnaround set the stage to enhance our expansion plans. MEG is utilizing these results to develop its future brownfield expansions that are anticipated to occur over the next several years.”

MEGs production was impacted in the second quarter thanks to turnaround work at the company’s Phase1, 2 and 2B facilities, as well as unplanned delays because of wildfires earlier this summer.

It hopes to hit a targeted record annual production of 78,000 to 82,000 bbl/d.

The company operates the Christina Lake SAGD project and the proposed Surmont project.
