Métis elders can celebrate Christmas this Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre beginning at 5:30 p.m.
McMurray Métis is hosting its 12th Annual Elders’ Christmas Gathering, the event is free to all Métis and First Nation Elders in the Wood Buffalo Region. Senior citizens of Fort McMurray are invited as well.
“The Métis people place great cultural importance on honouring our Elders and this event is a time to thank them, lift their spirits, and give them an opportunity to socialize with friends and family” said McMurray Métis President Gail Gallupe.
There will be a Christmas dinner, gifts, door prizes along with a visit from Santa, and traditional Métis entertainment.
