On Sunday, discussions about recent court decision and Idle No More will be the discussion topic at the Nistawoyou Friendship Center.
Metis National President Clem Chartier will be updating on the Metis nation constitution, Metis nation national politics and news, recent court decisions and the Idle No More happenings.
On Tuesday, the Federal Court ruled that 200,000 Métis and 400,000 non-status Indians in Canada are indeed “Indians” under the Constitution Act, and fall under federal jurisdiction.
The decision will help draw a more solid line for Ottawa’s responsibilities toward the two aboriginal groups.
