Moderate wildfire danger

There is a moderate wildfire danger in the region.

Wildfire Information Officer Robyn Haugen says there’s been rain, but not enough. “We have seen isolated showers around the region, but not the consistent amount of moisture we have seen over the past couple weeks”, Haugen explains.

She’s reminding long weekend campers to ensure their fire is completely out. “Remember to soak it, stir it, soak it again. Human-caused wildfire is 100% preventable!”

Fire permits are still available:

For permits within the Urban Service Area of Fort McMurray:
call RMWB at 780-792-5519.

For permits outside of the Urban Service Area of Fort McMurray:
call our office at 780-743-7125.

Wildfire: “MWF110”

MWF110 is under-control, thanks to the hard-work of our firefighters and the cooler, wetter conditions. It is over 40 km to the west of Fort McMurray and is not threatening the community. Our firefighters will continue working hard to ensure all the smouldering ground fires are completely extinguished.
