The MS Society is steps away from reaching it’s $25,000 goal. It’s been fundraising the last few months, but hopes this Saturday’s MS Walk can help boost proceeds.

Coordinator Cait Evans says she’s gained 30 clients since the local office opened last January, but there’s many more in the region who are impacted.

“With the walk last year, I know that the majority of [the 130] people that did the walk either live with MS or live with a family member with MS,” says Evans.

The proceeds go towards local programs such as MS Moves, which offers adjusted fitness classes. The organization also provides assisted living funds.

“So that’s providing people [with funds] who may not be able to afford certain things. Whether it’s buying themselves a wheelchair because there’s is broken or being able to go and do yoga classes themselves,” says Evans.

People can register in advance at www.mswalks.ca or in person at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The walk starts at 10 a.m. in front of Doug Barnes Cabin in Thickwood.
