The municipal census isn’t getting done fast enough; and the municipality is asking the province for an extension.
Wood Buffalo needed the census to be 99% done by the end of this month for the province to accept it; so far it’s not even halfway finished.
It’s requesting a one-month extension.
It’s also reminding residents to fill out their census forms; the municipality gets 60 dollars per person counted in the census in provincial funding.
If the census isn’t finished, the low federal census count will be used instead.
