Nebraksa could cause major Keystone XL delays: TransCanada

TransCanada Corporation says there could be major delays if the state of Nebraska decides to change the route of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.

While the company says it wouldn’t need to re-do its entire application, a route change would have the same effect on its schedule.

Nebraska is one of six U.S. states that the pipeline is planned to go through to carry crude from the oilsands to the Gulf Coast.

But the state government is now considering blocking the project or requesting a route change, after concerns were raised about the pipeline potentially spilling into a sensitive aquifer, which supplies water to a large part of the Western United States.
