New form to speak at public hearings on proposed pipeline projects

People now have a 10-page hurdle to get their voice heard at public hearings on proposed pipeline projects.

The National Energy Board implemented the application form earlier this month for hearings on reversing an Enbridge line from Sarnia, Ontario to Montreal.

Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver says it’s not that complicated, and it’s to stop people from playing the system.

He says at the Northern Gateway hearings over 4,000 people signed up to comment and only 1,400 showed up.

Opposition says it’s an attempt to discourage people from voicing their input.
