
There is just one active wildfire burning in the Waterways District, which is classified as under control. Sustainable Resource Development is ranking our risk of a fire starting at low.
Since the start of the wildfire season, there have been a total of 107 fires in the region, which have burnt 42,565 hectares.

There are 14 wildfires burning in our district, according to Sustainable Resource Development. Five fires are being held, while the rest are under control. Our wildfire hazard for our region is listed as low.

Sustainable Resource Development says the smoke that's causing an eerie haze in the region is actually being caused by wildfires in British Columbia.
The smoke has been affecting most of northern Alberta, as far south as the Edmonton area.

After rain over the weekend, the risk of a wildfire in the region is now listed at moderate. Sustainable Resource Development says that the Marguerite River Fire near Suncor's Firebag project is still listed as under control at 3300 hectares. There is one other fire that's under control, while 13 others are considered as being held.

The wildfire hazard is classified as high. There are 15 active fires in our area. Two are under control, while the other 13 are listed as being held. The Marguerite River fire near Suncor's Firebag project is listed as under control at 3300 hectares.
The province has sent 193 personnel to help with the wildfire situation in British Columbia.
