MLA Guy Boutilier has been removed from the Tory caucus by Primer Ed Stalmach over comments he made regarding the provinces postponement of a long term care facility for the region.
Guy was quoted in the Herald as saying seniors being kept in “holding cells” in Fort McMurray. He was also alleged that Health Minister Ron Liepert is “talking gibberish” when he says there’s no urgent need for a long-term centre the northern city.
Iris Krishner President of Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo PC association is shocked by the situation, and says “we should be able to talk to our MLA who should be able to talk to the Primer without fear of repercussion.

A former Fort McMurray gynecologist has been found guilty in four of the six counts of sexual assault against him. The verdict for Doctor Carl Nqumayo has just come down. The alleged victims were all patients of his at the time.

Occupational Health and Safety is investigating a fatal workplace incident at Canadian Natural Resource's site north of the city.
Early this afternoon, RCMP were called to a tailing's pond at the site with a report that an employee was trapped underwater. An underwater recovery team arrived just after 1:30 this afternoon. A body believed to be that of a contract worker was recovered, RCMP said.
"There was a floating backhoe working on the shoreline," said Peter Janson, the vice-president of engineering integration for the Horizon project. "He was removing debris off the shoreline... and somehow ended up in the pond, near the shoreline, inverted."
Janson says that rescue crews were immediately notified. "We also secured the services of some divers who were on the site doing other work."
"We're of course working with agencies and our first priority now is to contact next of kin." said Janson.

The Edmonton Police Service has arrested wanted man Scott Brown without incident.
"He was located in Edmonton and with the assistance of Edmonton city police he was arrested without incident." said Fort McMurray RCMP Constable Karolina Malik.
Scott Brown, 19, was wanted on 13 outstanding charges here in Fort McMurray. Charges stemmed from a number of thefts and weapons related incidents. They included robbery with a firearm, confinement, and mischief under $5 000, and mischief under $5 000.
Back in May, local RCMP started investigating a string of violent crimes in the city. They first launched an invesigation into a reported of shots fired on May 15th, 2008. A second incident was reported the next day. After further investigation into the incident on May 16th, they became aware of an unreported occurence that allegedly took place May 14th. That incident involved a home invasion robbery with the use of various weapons. Several victims were bound by masked gunmen, who robbed the home of drugs and money.
Brown is being held in Edmonton and is awaiting his bail hearing. He was also wanted for a parole violation.
"This is a significant arrest for us. Scott Brown has been involved with numerous acts of violence in Fort McMurray, so this is a significant arrest." said Malik. "This was a joint effort between the Edmonton Police Service and the Fort McMurray RCMP." Edmonton's Gang Unit was also involved.
