Nexen is finally getting some good news from its Long Lake oil sands project near Anzac.
The company says it exceeded expectations for the first production from the project’s 12th well pad – it only took 70 days to start producing instead of the usual 90 to 120.
That means progress on the thirteenth pad has been accelerated.
The project hasn’t come close to its 72 thousand barrel per day target because of constant glitches after it started up in ’08.
