Some of Alberta’s biggest and brightest stars will headline a major benefit concert in support of Fort McMurray and the people affected by this month’s wildfire.

At a press conference Thursday morning at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Fire Aid organizers announced Nickelback and Blue Rodeo will headline the star studded line-up.

Country artists Corb Lund, Dean Brody, Dallas Smith, Brett Kissel, Randy Bachman and High Valley will also hit the stage. Also playing will be The Rankin Family, Alan Doyle & The Beautiful Gypsies, Ian Tyson and Dear Rogue.

The concert will be held Wednesday June 29 at Commonwealth with all proceeds going to the Fort McMurray United Way. The proceeds will help support the city’s efforts to rebuild for all residents, individuals, families and businesses.

The event’s poster reads “the show goes rain or shine…we’re praying for rain.”

Fire Aid is being organized by a group of volunteers from across the province. The group includes staff of the Edmonton Eskimos, Oilers Entertainment Group, Live Nation and Northlands.

Tickets go on sale Monday May 30 with prices of $35.00, $60.00 and $99.00. They can be purchased at ticketmaster.ca or by calling 1-855-985-5000.
