The Northern Lights Health Foundation’s getting $400,000 from a first-time donor.

The foundation says the money from the General Presidents’ Maintenance Committee for Canada will help with the first phase of a continuing care space.

NHLF’s Executive Director says the space will be warm, welcoming and help add to a positive living environment.

The cheque is being presented at 11:30AM Tuesday at the Sawridge.

The vice chair of the committee, says it wanted to give back to the community that’s given so much to its members.

The committee’s a group of International Building Trades Unions that works out labour agreements for maintenance work at industrial plants in Canada.

Some companies it’s done this with in this region include Syncrude, Shell, Suncor, Nexen, CNRL and ConoPhillips.

It currently operates agreements in 8 provinces, works with more than 120 maintenance employers and employs more than 16,000 tradespeople.
