Northern Gateway deal under fire in B.C.

Members of a northwest BC First Nation are protesting a chief’s decision to support the Northern Gateway oil sands pipeline.

Last friday, a Gitxsan chief announced that he’d signed a deal with Enbridge that would get his First Nation seven million dollars.

But another hereditary chief says none of the other 65 chiefs support the agreement.

Dozens of people marched on the Gitxsan Treaty Society’s office yesterday to demand that native leaders resign.
