Vulcan Minerals says it’s applied for 10 metallic and industrial mineral permits about 50 kilometres east of Fort McMurray.
The junior oil and mineral exploration company says the permits are for about 225,000 acres to dig up uranium.
A similar discovery about 80 kilometres northeast is attracting significant market interest.
The Alberta Department of Energy told the Newfoundland Labrador-based company the application should be processed by October.
