Salaries in the oil and gas sector went up by an average of six percent last year, according to recruitment agency Hays Oil and Gas.
It also says 40 percent of oil workers are expecting at least another five percent raise this year.
Canadian oil and gas workers now make the third-most in the world at 130 thousand US per year, behind Norway at nearly 180 thousand and Australia at more than 160 thousand.
The report says with lots of large projects getting into engineering and construction phases this year, there will be more competition for talent and upward pressure on salaries.
