Almost two-thirds of the money being spent on major projects in Alberta is being spent in the oil sands.

In the latest Inventory of Major Projects, the Alberta Treasury Board reports that there are 823 projects in the province that are valued at 5 million dollars or more.

The total value of the projects is 189.3 billion dollars.

Even though the oil sands only represent 59 of those projects, they total 122 billion dollars.

That’s well ahead of infrastructure projects at 16.8 billion and power projects at 13.5 billion.
