The Oil Sands Hotel is finally coming down.
The city says demolition will start at 8 Saturday morning, and will take about 3 to 4 days to complete.
The municipality bought the property last August, but demolition couldn’t start right away because of asbestos.
It was the former home of not just the hotel, but also the bar Diggers, Teasers, a strip club, and the Oil Can Tavern
The city is planning to build a sports and entertainment complex on that block as part of the downtown redevelopment.
However, some other businesses on that block are refusing to sell and fighting the city’s attempts to expropriate the land.
