Olive Wooden and Brad Lucier win 2016 Rotary Integrity Awards

Two community members were honoured by the Rotary Club of Fort McMurray and the Fort McMurray Oilsands Rotary Club at their annual Integrity Awards banquet on Wednesday.

Each year nominations are submitted from each club of individuals who are not existing Rotarians, but demonstrate the characteristics of being a Rotarian.

Brad Lucier was the recipient for the Rotary Club of Fort McMurray. Lucier owns HVAC Solutions Limited and has been involved with organizations like Educare, the Food Bank, Keyano College, the Boys and Girls Club and the Centre of Hope.

Olive Wooden who is employed by the Fort McMurray Real Estate Board was the recipient for the Fort McMurray Oilsands Rotary Club. Wooden help strengthen the numbers in the girl guides program which now boasts 300 members in the region. She also helped found the Festival of Trees over 25 years ago and was already awarded Citizen of the Year for Anzac by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

The Fort McMurray Club meets every Wednesday at Smitty’s Restaurant at noon, the Oilsands Rotary Club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Sawridge Hotel at 5:30 p.m.

The groups support local efforts like End Polio, Oilsands Rotary Music Festival, Imagination Library, Air Cadets of Fort McMurray, and Vision International.
