One man killed in early morning crash

In the early morning hours of December 2, 2011 Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to investigate a head-on collision that occurred on an access road to the Syncrude Aurora Oilsands Site, north of Fort McMurray. At approximately 2:30 am, police attended the scene to find a minivan and a dump truck pulling a trailer had collided. The driver of the minivan, a 38 year-old male from the Lethbridge area, was declared deceased at the scene. The 28 year-old male driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries. The cause of the collision is not yet know, and no charges have been laid at this time. The police investigation continues.
