PM says Keystone XL approval will be given, Obama or not

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is still optimistic about the future of the Keystone XL pipeline.

According to Bloomberg, Harper called the project inevitable, and that if President Obama doesn’t approve it, one of his successors will.

In a January interview, Harper commented that it would take a lot of energy to oppose a decision “that is clearly and overwhelmingly in the national interest of the country.”

It’s not the first time Harper has been critical of Obama, previously accusing the president of punting the decision.

The Keystone XL pipeline would connect the oilsands to an already up-and-running pipeline system in the southern US, that takes crude to the Gulf Coast.
